Remedial & Sports Massage

At Backs & Beyond we believe that, as well as standing on its own as a therapy, for many conditions massage complements osteopathic treatment perfectly. It is undoubtably good when used regularly for people with complex and long standing musculoskeletal conditions.

There are as many types of massage as there are spots on a leopard, so at Backs & Beyond we aim to remove the worry of which one to choose.

The Backs & Beyond team of three experienced massage therapists all provide the major forms of massage, ‘Sports’ and ‘Remedial’.
Sports Massage
Is both for treating and preventing sporting injuries. It is designed primarily to alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissue during physical activity, and it can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement. You will struggle to find a serious athlete that does not regularly have sports massage.

If you have an injury, and decide to firstly see one of our sports massage therapists, they will be able to advise you on whether you should also see our sports osteopath.

Whether one is a dedicated athlete, ardent keep fitter or a once a week jogger sports massage should form part of any training program, alongside warm-up and cool-down.
Remedial massage
Essentially does what it says on the tin! It is designed to remedy specific areas that are sore, stressed, tense and painful, through the deep massage and manipulation of muscles.

Remedial massage is also good for relief from the mental and physical stresses and strains of modern life, and paradoxically aids sleep at night whilst giving you more energy through the day!
